The Digger Spin

The Digger Spin

The Digger Spin was born out of our desire to create shoe that was both comfortable and elegant. So often, nowadays, the two remain mutually exclusive.

Why when we want comfort do we turn to trainers and sport shoes? Can a leather shoe be street wear? Can it be subversive?

Maybe.

The leather uppers of the Digger Spin are based on a traditional derby shoe, with the quarters sewn on top of the vamp. We have removed the eyelets which serves to make the shoe more similar to a trainer and softened the silhouette to echo a fabric shoe.

Comfort comes in the form of our Vibram Christy sole. Made in Italy from a blown rubber compound, the Christy Wedge is comfortable from the outset and softens further over time.

For the curious, the name 'Digger' is inspired by a group of religious and political dissents in England shortly after the English Civil War. The Diggers believed in (among other things) the creation of small, egalitarian rural communities - not unlike us here at Green Shoes!
