Workshop Experiences

A unique leather crafting experience

Join us at Green Shoes for a unique leather-craft workshop, where our skilled artisans will guide you through traditional techniques as you create something truly special. We offer a variety of workshops, including our popular one-day shoemaking class and fun leather-craft sessions for families.

Our workshop space comfortably accommodates up to four people for a private session. If you're interested in an alternative date, or organising your own shoemaking or leather-craft event - whether it’s for a family gathering, corporate event, or celebration - we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with us, and we’ll gladly help plan a workshop tailored to your needs.

One-day Shoemaking Workshop

Our most popular workshop experience is a one-day shoemaking class, where you’ll learn to craft your very own pair of desert boots (The Ranger) or Mary Jane shoes. Perfect for complete beginners or aspiring shoemakers!

  • During the course of the day, you will experience the whole shoemaking process, from choosing your leather and hand-cutting your shoes using simple patterns. As you progress, you will use specialist sewing machines to top-stitch and assemble the shoe upper. Finally, having force-lasted your shoes, you will leave them with us to add the soles. Your finished shoes are then posted to you within a week. We are one of the only places in the country where you can hand-craft your own pair of shoes in just one day!

  • With only four places available per workshop, you’re guaranteed plenty of personalised attention from our expert shoemakers.

  • All of the materials to make the shoes are provided, with a choice of colours and styles on the day.

  • Aprons are provided to protect your clothes, but do bear in mind you will be working with glue and sharp tools so please don't wear your favourite things. The workshop can get a bit cold in the winter, so you might want to bring some warmer layers too!

  • You can find our workshop at The Old Chapel, 26A Cross Street, Moretonhampstead, TQ13 8NL. The nearest car park is Station Road, a few minutes walk away.

  • Our shoemaking workshop starts at 9.30am and finishes around 5pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Lunch is not provided but there are shops and cafes nearby.

  • Our one-day shoemaking workshop is priced at £275, which includes all materials, tuition and of course your very own pair of custom shoes! Or you can book two places together for a discounted rate of £500.

You can secure your place with a £100 deposit. Instalment options are available too - please contact us to find out more.

“Spending a day at Green Shoes was a fantastic experience. The hands-on guidance and attention to detail from Sarah was excellent and I now have my own beautiful pair of handmade shoes. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind experience!”

“I had an amazing experience at the Green Shoes shoemaking workshop. The day started with coffee, a briefing and shoe sizing. After selecting leather from a large range, I got to then choose the sole and began the process from cutting the leather to stitching the uppers. It was so exciting to see all the 2D leather pieces cut out and imagine them being a shoe!

I’d never really used a sewing machine before, but Kim and Sarah were great teachers and gave me the confidence to try things, but also comfortable to ask questions when needed! To put the shoes on my feet at the end of the day was amazing, before leaving them behind for the Green Shoes team to finish off. I kept saying it was the best day ever!”
